Hello all! Wow it was very difficult to talk about winter with all these gorgeous days recently. The month of January was packed with all kinds of exciting activities. One of the children’s favorites was the beach party in the middle of our room. Thank you to all the parents who helped remember items to share. We want to wish a belated happy birthday to Kaylee B. who turned five in January. Also birthdays coming up in February are; Riley, Naomi and Adrianna. Some of the children maybe moving back and forth to Kesha for short visits or daily due to teachers being sick and for five year olds, the ratio for teacher to child is 1 to 20. If you have any questions please see Jeris and we will do our best to make sharing rooms easy. Valentines day in coming quickly and we want to include you in how we do the party and valentines. WE DO NOT PASS OUT LISTS, this is because many of the children can not write everyone else’s names and to pass out 20 x 20 is a preschool teachers nightmare. Therefore we are asking for the children to practice writing their own name on each valentine for 20 of their classmates. We are making holders in class so no need for shoe boxes at this time. If anyone would like to bring in stickers, hearts or decorative ribbons to share that would always be welcome. We will be having our party on Tuesday, February 14 and a sign up for fruit pizza items will be coming soon. Sara and I have been working very hard at finishing your child’s portfolio, which includes photos and examples of Aesthetic, Cognitive, Language, Physical, Social and Emotional learning which we will share during conferences closer to April. Please feel free to ask about these sooner if your child may be moving before that. We need to address the issues of birthday parties that are being spoken about in the classroom. If your child is having a birthday party the entire class needs to be included or no-one, unless you get their address outside of preschool. Many of the children’s feelings are getting hurt because the children will say, “you can’t come to my birthday party, but you can.” We try very hard to soften the blows of the outside world, so help us to be kind to everyone while here at school. Also talk to your children about hurting other peoples feelings and not discussing their parties in front of others if not everyone is invited. This is the same as in public school so please take a few minutes to explain this. As part of our national accreditation we are asking for parents to please bring in a family photo. This helps with children missing you during the day, and also gives us a great opportunity to discuss different kinds of families. A few of our themes for this month will be national dental month, Ground Hog Day, Valentine’s, Presidents Day and Jell-O week. In the house center we will be changing to a pizza parlor. This will include learning about money, and fractions. We will be having a visit from the dentist and working on a field trip to a pizza place. Again if anyone would like to come and talk about their jobs we would be happy to learn and ask questions. Also please remember if you are planning on bringing a pet, you need to get permission from Kelley or Jeris. Thank you for having such great, amazing, fun loving and thoughtful children. Lynne and Sara Thursday, February 2. 2012Two's 1 Februaury NewsletterWelcome to February! Please remember to dress your child appropriately each day as we will still be going outside when weather permits. Our Valentine's Party will be Monday Feb.14th @ 3:15pm. You may bring in store bought treats for our party. There will be a sign up sheet post outside the room. You may also bring in Valentine's cards, I will be sending home a class list. Until next month, Jennifer and Lyndie Wednesday, February 1. 2012Preschool 4 February NewsletterDear Parents, Well, we have made it through the first month of the New Year!! We are now moving forward as we approach Februaury. Let's hope the groundhog brings us some good news because I don't know about you all, but I'm about ready for Winter to be over and Spring to be near. Speaking of the weather, please keep in mind as long as the weather is above 32 degrees we will try to make it outside for a short time each day. Therefore, kids need to be dressed appropriately for the weather. Also, I know I've mentioned it in the past newsletters, but it is very important to keep in mind checking your child's cubby at least a couple times a week for important papers regarding Cheerful Home and/or your child, newsletter, calendars, etc. Thank You! Things we will discuss and learn about this month includes Groundhogs/Shadows, Valentine's day/Friendship, Black History, and Teeth. We will celebrate Valentine's Day by having a small celebration on Tuesday, February 14th @ 2:00 in afternoon. There will be a sign-sheet posted outside the classroom if you would be interested in bringing a treat. Parents of kids that go to school---I realize they will probably have parties at school and treats there, so you don't need to sign up for a treat. I will bring some cookies for those kids so they can have a small treat. I think that's all I need to pass on for February. As always, any questions feel free to talk to me. Have a fantastic Febraury! Thanks, Kesha Wednesday, February 1. 2012School Age 1 February NewsletterWow! It's February! In addition to traditional activities such as making a Valentines and having a Valentine exchange with punch & cookies on Feb.14th. We will observe Groundhog Day by making our own predications. We will also focus on social studies, learning about presidents, using math skills by adding, subtracting & counting money. Februaury is national Dental Month. Our month starts out with "vacation fun." Your child may bring games, toys, DS, etc. to enjoy while taking a break from school. Please be sure that your child's name is somewhere on their toy.
